Learning to Love Reading

My students need to learn to love reading with new books for our classroom library.

My Students

Leading educational theorist Jean Piaget once said, "The principle goal of education in the schools should be creating men and women who are capable of doing new things, not simply repeating what other generations have done."

I have 28 wonderfully intelligent 5th grade students who are ready to learn and conquer any task.

Our district motto is "expect to excel." My students expect to excel in their academic lives as well as their personal life. My goal is to give them the tools to truly excel and create new things.

My Project

Joseph Addison once said, "Reading is to the mind, what exercise is to the body." I am excited to help my students exercise and expand their minds through reading. Do you remember your favorite book from elementary school? Do you remember the characters, and how you felt as you read? Have you ever read a book that you just couldn't put down? I want my students to have this experience as they investigate the new titles we are adding to our classroom library. With over 200 new titles, each student will be able to find something that matches their interests. My goal for 5th grade is for all of my students to leave with an intense love for reading so that they will become lifelong learners.
