My Students
A typical day in my classroom starts off with a hug and a smile! School is a place where my students feel safe and loved every day.
My classroom is composed of a large percentage of students receiving free/reduced price lunch, as well as a variety of ethnic backgrounds.
My sweet, energetic Kinders come to school excited and eager to learn. They love hands-on, highly engaging activities.
My students love peer to peer learning, hands-on math activities, and science investigations. Every day my goal is to make academics fun for them so they don't realize they are learning!
With this request, not only will you be touching the lives of my Kindergarten class, but also two other teachers in my district, Mrs. Atkinson and Mrs. Cretsinger. Mrs. Atkinson teaches 3rd grade and Mrs. Cretsinger teaches Kindergarten at this time but will be moving to 8th grade English this next year. We pride ourselves in engaging our students in best practices and developing the whole child while challenging them academically.
My Project
I am requesting lodging to attend the National Get Your Teach On Conference in Grapevine, TX. Knowing the importance of developing life-long learners, we are excited to attend this professional development with highly acclaimed educators in the field of elementary and upper elementary educators and motivational speaker Rachel Hollis.
This conference will allow us to gain insights in best practices, increase our students desire to learn while focusing on academic rigor while challenging students to think beyond the standards.
We will walk away with resources from ETA Hands to Mind and other hands-on resources in all subject areas to meet the needs of all learners. We are excited to bring this back to our students and be able to share what we have learned with other teachers in our district.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
