My Students

We have a blessed group of students. Our children are all between the ages of 3 and 4 years old. They have all been diagnosed with different disabilities. All of them have goals related to fine motor, educational, and social skills. They have trouble using their hands to grip items such as cars, small building blocks, and crayons. The majority of our students are autistic, have Down syndrome, or are medically fragile; and they require a lot of different activities. Most of them live in low-income apartment households.

With our children having a large range of disabilities, hands-on learning is very important.

Many of our students are non-verbal and have limited mobility. They get really excited when they can work to accomplish a learning task. Since all of our students are working virtually, we are in need of getting items to help them with different ways of reaching both math and alphabet goals. We are hoping to get our new students some of the same learning materials that have helped with our children.

Our students with their parents have done a wonderful job of staying focused and working with what little they have to help reach their goals.

My Project

Since our students are totally virtual, we are limited on materials that we can give them to use. Our class is getting larger, and with the success of earlier funded materials we want to offer our new students the same learning materials to help with counting.

The counting and sorting bear sets will give them access to working on these goals.

The pegboard set will help with their fine motor skills of stacking and pushing items together with a small amount of strength.

We are working with our students to learn to write their letters and numbers. The handwriting dry erase books are a wonderful tool for our kids to use while we teach the handwriting strokes online.
