Learning to Cook for a Healthier Lifestyle!

My Project

Our school has been lucky enough to pair with a local non-profit organization who comes to our school and teaches our students how to cook healthy, delicious meals.

A large portion of our population comes from families who often have food insecurities and eating healthy is not always a priority, feeding their families is!

These materials will allow our students to learn how to prepare, cook, and then eat the delicious meals they were taught to create.

The plastic knives will provide a safe way for students to learn how to cut their fruits and vegetables. The cutting mats will provide a clean surface for them to prepare their meals on, and the measuring cups and spoons will teach them how to measure and pour into their new mixing bowls.

Teaching our students how to prepare healthy meals not only for themselves but then to take the recipe cards home and make for their families is an amazing life skill.

Having these materials at our school will cut down on prep time and allow the amazing chefs to come in ready to teach and work with our students directly.

This amazing opportunity our students have been given is going to teach them to prepare and make meals, but also to work on their math and reading skills while measuring and reading the recipes and ingredient.
