Learning to Compare and Contrast

Help me give my students The Lemonade Wars and Nothing But Trouble for my students to compare and contrast the writing style of one author.

My Students

The students at our school are amazing! They come into the classroom excited to learn and become involved in whatever topic that is in the plan. We have wonderful support from our parents. We have a very diverse population of students: culturally, economically, and with different learning abilities. It's become my goal to try and stay ahead of them!

Our third grade team is challenging our students to work independently and take charge of their learning.

This is a learning concept in itself, and we are guiding them along the way.

Our students are working hard to create a solid base of education. They appreciate what they have now, and they are learning to use their knowledge to take control of their education. We love to see their excitement grow as they are introduced to new information.

My Project

Our school has many high achieving and gifted students. We have arranged an exclusive time in the morning where students can work and challenge themselves with reading activities.

The Lemonade Wars and Nothing But Trouble by Jacqueline Davies will give the students a fun way to compare and contrast two books by one author.

I've also added the book Stone Fox for other students to practice inference as well as do some exploration into the world of dog sledding. We will also be adding a writing element to our morning activity, and giving the students examples of a variety of writing, they can begin to try new styles themselves.
