My Students

I am an Intervention Specialist in an urban Cleveland Public School. I pull students out to give them intensive intervention to bring them up to grade level. I also teach them stratigies to deal with anger, inattention, and impulsiveness. My students are very eager to learn and love school.

The students I work with have a variety of disabilities from Specific Learning Disability, Intellectual Disability, Multi-Handicapped, Autistic, and Other Health Impairment.

All students come from poverty and have experienced many hardships in their young lives. Some have witnessed violence, abuse and homelessness. Despite all of this the students come to school and work hard.

Even though the students I work with have disabilities, I have high expectations for them. Each child is given the opportunity to learn and given the tools they need to be successful.

My Project

The students in my class struggle with reading and math. They are still learning their letters, sounds and numbers. They have difficulty working independently. However, they are very good at using technology.

We are requesting three Apple iPad 2s, cases, headphones, and a charging station.

The iPads will allow my students to learn their letters, sounds and numbers independently. The iPads will improve their reading and math skills by providing more practice. It will allow for each student to work on the skills he or she needs to become a reader and improve math skills.

Your generous donation will give the students the tools they need to become readers. It will also improve their math skills. By improving their reading and math skills, my students will become confident learners!
