My Students

I teach an intensive special education class and all of my students are special in their own ways. The students in my class all have autism and have difficulty communicating. Most of my class uses talk devices or communication systems.

Even with their varying abilities, all my students strive to be the best learner they can be.

Each student learns at their own pace and has their own learning style. As their teacher, I strive to teach to each one of their learning styles and be the best teacher I can be!

My Project

With these iPads, my students will be able to access learning materials that are at their developmental level. They will be able to use the iPads to learn basic skills, social skills, communication and academic tasks. There are thousands of apps that are available for students with special needs that focus on life skills, communication, math and language arts. There are apps that teach exactly what some of their IEP goals are, such as prepositions, opposites, colors and body parts. In addition, I have also ordered cases and headphones to make these devices functional for everyday classroom use.

These iPads will improve my classroom and create a more positive and effective learning environment.

Technology is so rewarding for my students and it also will allow them to be focused on and engaged while learning and practicing new skills on the iPad.
