Learning Through Technology: iPads in an Engaging Classroom!

My Students

I work in a Title One school with students who come from a low socioeconomic background. This coming school year I will have a diverse class which will include students with special needs (intellectual disability), English language learners, students with speech impediments, and general education students who are working significantly below grade level. Many of these students do not have access to technology (computers, iPads, tablets) at home and I would love for them to look forward to coming to school every day.

My Project

Due to the fact my school is Title 1, meaning most of our students come from low socioeconomic background and receive free breakfast and reduced lunch, we do not have a class set of laptops, iPads, or tablets. We have to schedule time in the computer lab to use technology and most of the time the computers are not working properly.

By having iPads in the classroom, it saves on transition time to the computer lab and provides a fun and engaging opportunity for students to play educational games during our literacy block.

I try to make my classroom a place where my students look forward to coming. I am hopeful that the integration of technology in my classroom would do just that!
