My Project

My Students

My high school students are enrolled in Child Development and Early Childhood Education courses, where they serve as student teachers in our on-site preschool lab.

They plan lessons, teach young children, and reflect on how music, movement, and routines support early learning. Many of my students are exploring careers in education and childcare, and they learn best through hands-on, real-world experiences that mirror what professional teachers do.

My Project

I am requesting a couple of CD players, headphones and DVD player adapter to support lesson planning and instruction in our preschool lab. Music is a powerful teaching tool in early childhood education, and my student teachers regularly plan lessons that include songs for transitions, movement, social-emotional learning, and language development.

With this CD players, students will be able to:

- Select developmentally appropriate songs for preschool lessons

- Use music to support routines like clean-up, circle time, and calming moments

- Incorporate movement, rhythm, and repetition into their teaching

- Practice planning lessons that align with real preschool classroom expectations

This project supports hands-on activities, role-playing, and real-world applications by allowing students to experience how music is intentionally used in early childhood classrooms, not just as entertainment, but as a learning tool.

Why This Project Is Important

Music plays a critical role in early childhood development, supporting language, memory, emotional regulation, and social skills. By using a CD player, my students learn how to thoughtfully choose and use music as part of their teaching practice. This helps them understand classroom management, lesson flow, and how to engage young learners in meaningful ways.

Having access to this simple but essential tool allows my students to plan lessons and teach more confidently and professionally while giving preschoolers joyful, developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
