As the world around us continues to evolve and change, so must the way in which we educate our students. This year, our students will complete several project-based activities in science and social studies, concluding both with our science and history fairs. I am requesting two pairs of smart glasses to be able to capture photos, videos, and interviews from a first-person perspective. Many of our students struggle to understand the point of view of others. When reading complex text, students can't step outside of their own personal experience to see the world through the eyes of others. By using these glasses on field trips, during lab experiments, and math talks, students will have another way to express their learning and make content creation student-led.
Rose-colored glasses allow us to see the positive points despite all else.
Our core values of academics, community, pride, and justice allow us to advocate for all within this urban neighborhood by extending compassion and partnering with families to nurture lifelong learners, critical thinkers, and responsible citizens through STEM/STEAM, performing arts, visual arts, athletics, coding, computer science (CS), financial literacy, and mental health/social-emotional learning (SEL). We receive federal funding for programs that provide free breakfast and lunch for every student and Title I services to economically disadvantaged individuals. Our inclusive class serves military families, gifted/talented students, ESL/ELL students, special education students, and tech-savvy students.
