My Students

Young children learn through play. Unfortunately, children have lost the meaningful opportunities to play because of curriculum being pushed down into the younger grades.

My classroom is made up of children ranging from five to six years in age.

Many of them come from families that have immigrant parents and therefore, I have a lot of English Language Learners in my class. Most of the children in my class have families with limited income and therefore they do not come to school with the background experiences needed to grow as learners.

My Project

I am requesting a new kitchen set for our classroom along with some accessories, such as play food and kitchen utensils. We inherited our current kitchen items, and they have seen better days. There are so many enriching learning experiences children achieve through play. Not only are they learning about healthy foods, manners, and turn taking, but they are also developing the language that is needed to be a life-long learner.

By donating to our project, you will bring back a child's' love for play.

The children in my class will develop their oral language skills and learn new vocabulary. You will make a difference in the lives of the children in my class by giving them something they will not be able to get through home life experiences.
