Help me give my students quality materials that will give them rich hands-on early childhood literacy and math experiences to help build upon their natural love of learning and exploration. This includes magnetic letters, Lakeshore Magic Boards, a ramps and boards exploration set, and other items.
My students are full to the brim with excitement, enthusiasm and a natural love of learning, as I believe all children are. So many educators shy away from early childhood, but I fully embrace it because I believe a positive, engaging foundational experience is ESSENTIAL to their further success in school and in life. I love their humor, love their innate goodness, love their eagerness for play, love their sponge-like quality about learning anything and everything! They need hands-on materials that will provide them with opportunities to play and explore as they learn to love reading, writing and thinking.
Frederick Douglass, the famous former slave turned abolitionist said, "Once you learn to read you will be forever free." He knew, really knew, the definition of true freedom and that it is knowledge.
Knowledge is power and instilling a love of learning and especially reading among my 44 kindergarten students is pure empowerment! This is the greatest gift I can give to my students!
What I hope for is an opportunity to augment my student's love of learning with literacy and math materials that will provide rich experiences that will further enhance their educational experience.
My Project
Children learn through play. To have access to fun, colorful, sturdy tools for use during Literacy and Math Centers in our daily curriculum will help them to be engaged and excited about their learning. This will build momentum as they discover letters, sounds, numbers and other concepts that will give them a foundation for success in later school experiences.
The alphabet tools will provide hands-on play that will improve their phonemic awareness and the math manipulatives will build their knowledge of foundational math skills.
I know these interactive materials will help them to grow and develop into great students with strong reading, writing and math skills throughout their entire educational experiences. I hope to create lifelong learners and if I can do this with the help of these materials then I feel this is the greatest gift I can give them!
