My students need fun and engaging materials to help them learn. Bingo Games Learning Library, has a variety of different skill sets for my K-4 students to practice, all while playing a friendly game of bingo!
My students walk into class, every day, always thinking, questioning, and wondering what they are going to do today, and if it will be as challenging and fun as the activity they worked on the week before! They are constantly making connections from our classroom lessons to their real-life experiences. This is extremely helpful to them because the majority of students who attend this school are from a variety of other cultures and places, outside of the United States.
The best part of the day for many of these students is when they get to come to school, and feel a sense of community, pride, and caring.
School provides them with breakfast, lunch, and dinner, while generous businesses and foundations help to supplement other necessities needed to help them strive to be the best student they can be. It is amazing to see their resilience. Every day, I am reminded of how lucky I am to have the opportunity to be educating these students, as well as learning from them on a daily basis. They come to my class every day, with smiles on their faces, ready with inquisitive questions, that are constantly challenging me to strive to be a better educator.
My Project
Every child loves to play games. The minute you tell a child they are going to play a game, they get all excited, want to know how to play, and when they can begin! Helping students to continue practicing and learning skills they need to succeed in the classroom, should be fun and inviting.
Educational games are an excellent way to get students excited about learning and having fun while doing it!
ATM Action Money and The Allowance Game, are two great games to help students identify coins, paper money, and understand the values of each. Money is something that is a part of everyday life. These games will help all my students, through identifying what coins look like, their names, their values, as well as how to add an subtract money in different situations.
Roll & Write Word Game is another educational resource that can be used to help students build and sound out hundreds of words. Students will combine beginning sounds on the dice they roll, with ending sounds on the game board. This game will help students to gain an understanding of how to create words using beginning and ending sounds, and then how to spell and write them correctly on their scorecard.
Educational games are wonderful practice tools to help students engage with there peers and help each other learn complex concepts. I always remember time passing by way too quickly when I was engaged in learning through playing games with my peers.
