Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach 27 students in a self contained full day Kindergarten program in a high-need community. In order to differentiate instruction for children struggling to meet standards and/or students exceeding the standards, I incorporate "Free Choice Learning Center Time" into our daily routine.

Free Choice Learning Center Time is intended for students to experience Literacy, Science, Language, and Literacy in a Play-Centered atmosphere while the teacher works with selected groups of students to differentiate instruction in Language Arts and Math.

The name tags will be used for "Center Necklaces" allowing the students to manage the amount of students allowed at each center. Center time encourages socialization, communication, and for the English learners opportunities to use language in a less formal and more comfortable situation. We currently have 10 centers that allow 4 students each (Literacy, Math, Science, Poetry, Library, Writing, Dramatic Play, Art, Building,and Puzzle).

Please invest in my classes project. It will provide amazing benefits to the children and their language support. Center Time allows time for "Learning through Play" and gives the children a chance to make their own choices, and decisions. Play also provides opportunities for children to express ideas and is important for developing their sense of self-worth.
