My Students

I am teaching a kindergarten class this year and my students will need materials for their dramatic play centers.

I have 22 kindergartners that are eager to learn.

I teach a collaborative team teaching class in which half of the students have special needs. For many of my students, kindergarten is their first school experience. In our school, 57% of the students receive free or reduced price meals.

My Project

Dramatic play is a very important aspect of kindergarten. Children learn many socio-emotional skills through play. Dramatic play encourages children to put themselves in someone else's shoes and improves their ability to do this in real life. To enrich my dramatic play centers, I need cooking and food related toys, a supermarket play set, a few new dolls, an animal set, a dinosaurs set, and a pretend animal hospital.

Playing is very important for children's social development and also helps children's thinking skills.

They learn important social skills, such as empathy. Dramatic play also encourages expressive language. Children are motivated to communicate with others and speak from the perspective of their pretend roles.
