80% of the kids at my school have autism or other disabilities.
100% of the kids at my school are incredible. Some of my students struggle with academics, while others are far above grade level. Every child is unique and has individual needs in order to succeed.
My Project
With musical instruments, I will be able to teach lessons in hands-on, fun ways. We can read a story and retell it with musical aspects. We can learn about cultures around the world and how music fits into those cultures, and we can even pair music with math.
With access to musical instruments, it will be easier to reach every learning style.
Some students will never understand a concept through normal lecture, but music might make sense. If I am able to present information in a variety of ways and incorporate the arts, I will be a more effective teacher, and my students will learn better. If I turn a boring lesson into a hands-on, musical experience every child will have more fun and learn more.
