My Students
My students are a diverse group of 4th and 5th graders with a wide range of cultural backgrounds, languages spoken, and learning styles. My students come from the Philippines, Mexico, China as well as the bay area.
We work hard every day to build a classroom community that allows for all learning styles to be respected and met.
My students have an incredible range of interests and learning modalities. They take the great initiative in self-directing their learning, often asking me to order or check out books, researching a topic they are interested in, sharing resources with each other, and asking new questions. They are incredibly creative - creating comic books, writing narratives in their free time, designing whole worlds and characters for their stories, and always drawing! They most love field trips, reading, and hands-on learning.
My Project
My students will use these materials to help sharpen their literacy skills. highlighters and pens to mark up their writing drafts, mini whiteboards to brainstorm during mini-lessons, and drawers to help us organize our writing paper.
My students need a comfortable library filled with high-interest books!
With our new supplies, they can cozy up on their new rug, under a cozy reading light with their new books. the more they read, the more students grow in their confidence and love of reading. With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that appeal to their wide variety of interests.
