My Students
This is my fourth year at a high needs school in the school district of Philadelphia. Our school is located in a high poverty area; therefore, we do not have as many resources and supplies. My students come to school to feel safe and learn. The home life that most of my students live in is not easy and they have to worry about when they will eat again, where they will sleep, etc. This project would help my students be able to learn in an environment where they can forget about what is going on in the outside world and feel safe and enjoy school. These supplies will add to our classroom and make them excited and eager to learn!
My Project
Our students were lucky enough to receive new iPads a few years ago through a grant! However, we did get some headphones to go along with them. Over the years, we were able to get more iPads in each classroom, but not enough headphones. These will help my students listen and learn during center time. The students really enjoy listening to stories, doing research for a writing piece, or playing math games to gain more knowledge throughout the day! In addition to center time, some of our students have had trauma in their lives so being able to take a brain break is very helpful for them as well!
