My students need a variety of hands on literacy activities and books that I can lend out for them to take home and practice with.

My Students
Do you remember how challenging it was as a beginning reader? Now, imagine how hard that would be with minimal supplies? That's the dilemma my preschool class is facing this year.
I teach a class of eighteen preschool students ranging in age from four to five years old.
My students are just now having their first experiences with print, books and reading. These students come from an inner city, low income area where literacy tools and books may not always be readily available at home.
My Project
The literacy kits, literature based learning centers, and books provided by this project will help me to provide my students with a more intensive, hands-on learning experience. The materials will be put into individual backpacks and sent home with children so that they will have a fun, educational experience to take home and share with their families.
This is a very important project.
The materials provide through this project will not only promote early literacy skills, but will also promote parental involvement. Getting the parents and families involved in the learning process is prove to have a very positive affect on a child's education.
