Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In my Kindergarten classroom, learning looks like paint-covered fingers, joyful giggles during games, and curious minds exploring through hands-on play. My students are bright, imaginative, and eager to learn—but like many young learners, they thrive best in a space that is both inspiring and organized.
This project will provide my classroom with essential art supplies, organizational materials, and age-appropriate games and toys.
These tools may seem simple, but they are powerful in shaping how my students learn and grow.
The art supplies—paints, markers, paper, and craft materials—will give my students the opportunity to express themselves creatively, develop fine motor skills, and engage in collaborative projects. Art is more than just fun in Kindergarten—it builds confidence, encourages problem-solving, and supports emotional expression, especially for children who are still developing their verbal skills.
Organizational tools like labeled bins, shelving, and storage trays will help me create a classroom environment where materials are easy to access and clean up. This promotes independence and responsibility, even at five years old. When children can find what they need and know where it belongs, the classroom becomes a calmer, more focused space for everyone to learn.
Games and toys and the table top writing center, encourage critical thinking, communication, and social-emotional learning. They also allow students to explore academic skills—like counting, sorting, and patterning—through play, which is how kindergartners learn best.
What makes my students special is their resilience, curiosity, and joy. Many come from diverse backgrounds and bring with them unique experiences and perspectives. Despite any challenges they may face outside the classroom, they show up each day ready to learn, connect, and grow. They deserve a space that reflects their potential and gives them the tools to thrive.
