My Project

Students need hands-on learning experiences to access rigorous content. Much of what science teaches is complex and abstract making it difficult for students to truly understand. Labs and projects make their learning tangible and engaging. Unfortunately, they require many consumable items such as gloves, graduated cylinders, and poster paper. Gaps in school and personal funding restrict students to less labs which reduces their potential to grasp abstract concepts.

Labs and projects spark curiosity and wonder which keep kids coming to school excited to learn.

Additionally, in an age where attention is short and hard to keep it is increasingly important to provide opportunities for students to play and create instead of memorize and regurgitate information. An example would be to utilize gamification such as game-show-style review using white boards and snacks for prizes. If we want our students to become life-long learners, we must give them the chance to seek the wonder of the world.
