Learning Through Interactive Notebooks

My students need colored paper, glue sticks, colored pencils, and composition books to create interactive notebooks- a great way to reinforce concepts they are learning and to keep forever!

My Students

How great would it be for children to be able to create their own books and keep them forever?! These special books would be packed with all the things they're learning in class, so they could look back and remember what they did the entire year.

My students are third graders that attend a Title I school and all receive free lunch.

They are truly excited to learn and love to do new things. Our school is focused on teaching children to read, write, and do mathematics, but there is little time to be able to do other curriculum or even cut paper and paste!

My Project

These interactive notebooks would allow my students access to remember what they've learned. They would be able to use scissors and color and glue again! . . . Not just write on copied worksheets that are going to be thrown away! They would be creating their very own notebooks, to be filled with all the learning throughout the year. I know my students will be so proud of their finished work.

Because of budget cuts and fiscal crisis and differences in opinions on what "important" instructional materials are at my school, I've been told that we would not be able to get glue sticks!

Even paper and journals are not considered "important" to instruction apparently. Crazy, I know! So my class really needs some help!
