I am a third grade teacher in the Bronx. I teach students who have recently moved to the United States from other countries. The majority of students in my school are eligible for free lunch.
Being that my students are still learning the English language I try to incorporate many hands on activities in my classroom. Children love to bake and learn while doing so. Unfortunately in my school, we don't have the resources needed to provide children with fun activities such as baking.
A toaster oven would be a wonderful addition to our classroom. This resource would greatly benefit these terrific kids because they will be involved in supervised, hands on activities, such as measuring, counting, and learning the names of different ingredients as well as many other activities.
Please make it possible for my students to have these wonderful experiences in their classroom. Having the children directly involved in authentic activities such as these will not only be fun but more importantly educational.
