My Students
"Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success." - Henry Ford. Working together is what that I strive for my students to experience in my classroom. The STEM Problem Solving Kits will allow my students to work together while learning and having fun!
My class of first graders are very inquisitive and enthusiastic about learning!
Our school has a diverse culture of students. We have both local community students, as well as, military housing. Our community takes a lot of pride in our school. We work together with our administration, families, and other community members to create the best possible learning environment for our keiki.
My Project
A few years ago, I had a Donors Choose project that funded our first set of STEM kits for our classroom. I have used these kits with each school year with each new class of students since it was funded. These STEM kits have promoted creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking skills. By having the next set of Lakeshore STEM kits in my classroom, it will allow for students to integrate reading, science, technology, math, and social skill building all in one project.
The students learn to work in groups, value each other's ideas, as well as, expressing their own ideas.
These skills are real-world skills that they will need to develop for their future careers. I have seen such enthusiasm in my students when using our STEM kits and would like to bring more kits into our classroom to continue to promote these real-world skills!
