My Students
Our school does not have a regular art teacher and no art supplies. My students learn best from hands-on experiences and with the right resources, they can learn new reading and math concepts through a variety of art projects!
My students are 4 years olds and very energetic.
I have a large amount of students with special needs. My students come from a low-income demographic and many are living in poverty. They do not have a great deal of opportunities. They attend a public school in Wisconsin. Many public schools in Wisconsin cut the arts to save money and our students do not get any exposure to creative learning.
My Project
These resources will give my students the opportunity to do a variety of projects in reading and math. Art projects can easily branch into science and social studies as well. Incorporating art projects into the curriculum will provide students with a personal connection to the material. It will also give students a more in-depth explanation of new material/concepts. They will gain pride when they see their work hung around the school and be able to talk about their work.
My students are supposed to have art class every other Friday, but miss it frequently due to days off of school.
By incorporating art into other subjects, my students can gain a deeper connection by doing a hands-on project. What better way to learn new concepts than through art! This will truly provide a plethora of great experiences in all subject areas!
