My students are amazing kids who face many challenges both at home and at school. My students all have various disabilities, but they don't let their disabilities hold them back.
All of my students are unique, but one thing is the same in each of them: they love to learn!
My students come from a variety of backgrounds and face many challenges before even entering our school. We work together everyday to overcome those challenges and reach new heights. I work with about seventy-five, special education students every week, reaching kids with various disabilities. My students love to move, explore, and play.
My Project
One of the best ways for my students to learn new information is offer them learning opportunities that engage all of their five senses. For this reason, we often incorporate art and sensory play into their learning.
Art and sensory based experiences help students with special needs to learn and retain information, and also allow students to create visual representations of their learning that are meaningful to them.
We will use the water color paint pads and liquid water colors to create vibrant art work that will visually represent their newfound knowledge. The Tempera paints will allow us to paint and create art out of many different materials (they work great on cardboard and newspaper!) and the water beads will become a sensory bin medium for all sorts of learning and exploration! These tools will cement our learning and make for wonderful sensory learning experiences for my amazing, special, learners!
