This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come to school every day with a smile on their face eager to know what they are going to learn. Some students have never been to school before and some are returning for another year. In addition, some students cross the border every morning just to make it to school.
I am in awe of their ambition and eagerness to learn when I greet them every morning.
As a teacher, I look forward to providing the resources possible to set my students up for success.
My Project
With these materials, my students will be able to build the literacy and mathematical skills in a meaningful and insightful context which sets them up for success.
The CVC center will be used every day during Guided Reading and Reader's Workshop in order to improve their sight word recognition and reading skills.
This will give my students the opportunity to improve their language and vocabulary skills which will translate to their ability to read complex text with great ease and clarity.
In addition, students will utilize the 100 chart every day during math in order build their number sense in areas such as place value and counting in groups. This will allow them to utilize their number sense in many aspects of their lives both inside and outside the classroom in real world contexts.
Lastly, the poster crayons will be used to improve writing when it comes to areas such informational and opinion writing as students are able to articulate their ideas in a visual aesthetic format. The impact of this resource is students channeling, bringing out, and expressing their creativity.
