Learning the Technology of the Picture

Teacher Professional Development: I need a MacBook Air and Adobe Photoshop Elements with a teaching guide. I want to take online courses and then teach my students how to edit photos. <profdevpilot>

My Students

My classroom is bustling with eager learners. They want to explore the world, learn new concepts, and be exposed to all that life has to offer. They want to grow as learners just as I do. I am a lifelong learner and I will do everything in my power to instill that drive in them.

I have been teaching elementary school for 15 years.

I have met many types of students, different styles of learners, and I have worked extremely hard to instill a love of learning in them. Not only have I worked hard to teach my students but I have worked very hard to create a culture of excitement for learning on campus. As the GATE coordinator, I have brought in many exciting resources for students to learn from, such as Master Gardeners and engaging assemblies. I am also part of a team that helps to design teacher trainings for our staff and I am constantly learning new things to pass on what I have learned to them. I attend workshops consistently and love to learn and broaden my horizons.

My Project

I am planning on taking online technology courses and using the laptop as a professional development tool to help me learn. I will be using Photoshop in conjunction with online trainings to learn how to edit pictures and create works of art using this program. This new learning will be taught to my students as they take pictures around the school and create new stories, blogs, and news articles with these newly edited pieces of art. This laptop will be able to handle this initial photo editing program as well as future programs that I will be purchasing to add to the student projects.

The MacBook Air will be used to take online technology courses including Photoshop.

I will learn how to edit pictures using our classroom camera to turn them into a creative piece of art. The students will then be taught how to edit their own pictures for blogging and recording what they are learning in the classroom, as well as reporting on school events.
