Learning That Lasts: A Laminator for Lifelong Impact

Help me give my students a laminating machine. The library serves as a resource-central hub for learning and instructional support. A laminator machine would help with such visual aids, learning centers, signage, task cards, and individualized supports.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

At Shaw Elementary School, we serve a vibrant, resilient population of students, many of whom come from low-income and minority backgrounds. Students arrive at school each day full of hope, energy, and the determination to grow. They work diligently to reach their full potential, supported by teachers who create individualized plans that target essential academic areas.

But behind every child’s success is a team of adults striving to make the most of limited resources to support over 700 students across all academic levels and abilities.

It will allow us to meet students where they are while giving them what they need to thrive. While our teachers work tirelessly to prepare engaging, differentiated activities for their classrooms, they often need extra support to make these materials sustainable, accessible, and reusable for the diverse learners we serve.

As the media specialist at Shaw, I am proud to be one of those support figures, helping to bridge gaps and provide meaningful tools for both teachers and students. I am writing to request funding for a school laminator—a simple yet powerful resource that will significantly enhance the way we prepare and deliver educational content.

The addition of a laminator will allow us to:

- Create long-lasting, reusable materials for every grade level and learning style.

- Protect and preserve individualized resources.

- Provide tactile, durable supports for students who benefit from hands-on or alternative learning methods—especially those with IEPs, language barriers, or learning differences.

School is more than a place of learning—it is a place of stability, support, and opportunity. Access to consistent, high-quality materials can significantly impact their academics and close learning gaps, reinforce skills, and inspire confidence through well-prepared, visually engaging, and hands-on learning experiences.
