Help me give my students an engaging learning experience through STEM with LEGO Education kits to prepare them for the jobs of the future while they develop mechanical and mathematical concepts to become the innovators of tomorrow.
Utilizing the LEGO Education kits, my students will learn through play to build the foundational concepts of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Access to this kind of learning will help these students excel in the jobs of the future. I plan to use these kits to support our current math and science curriculum, helping students develop key concepts in a kinesthetic, hands-on approach.
These kits will allow my students to tinker, experiment, and design their own creations and then bring them to life through coding, motors, and sensors while learning basic robotic framework.
Decades of educational research shows the importance of learning through play as our students grow and best practices suggest this should continue on through middle school. Unfortunately, our state curriculum ends this important style of learning in pre-K.
Our school is a Title 1 funded school, which in part means there are socio-economic disadvantages that many of our students face. The largest disadvantage is equitable access to materials outside of school. With many of our families struggling to get by, "toys" like Legos and robots are dismissed as luxuries that cannot be afforded right now.
I would like to give my students this opportunity because a family's financial strain should not limit any student in their potential for greatness. My students are interested in learning about robotics and coding and have asked to have a club that will support these interests. This will give them an edge heading into middle school and high school. The creative thinking and problem-solving skills, along with ingenuity that is fostered with LEGO education kits will help shape these students into the scientists, innovators and engineers of tomorrow.
Please help me bring this dream to life for my students.
