My Students
I teach high school social studies at a low income, title 1 rural district in South Carolina. My position is unique as I will be teaching virtually in our district's new program, reaching many students with many different needs. My students have opted out of face to face instruction for many reasons due to our rising number of Covid cases in our state. Currently, we have over 1,200 students enrolled in our virtual program. We are expecting our numbers to grow throughout the year.
The virtual program is designed to deliver dynamic and thoughtful instruction to students' homes while allowing interactive lessons between myself and a small group of students at designated times.
I will teach four virtual classes: three sections of human geography totaling sixty ninth-graders and a law education class with eighteen tenth graders. In addition to my virtual synchronous classes, I will monitor and instruct additional classes on Edgenuity, our virtual platform for asynchronous instruction.
My Project
Study.com will allow students to participate in collaborative and exciting activities! My students excel when their lessons are interactive and engaging. The use of these materials will enable students to be more productive and accountable while working from a distance due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The enhanced technology will allow me to better facilitate instruction with my digital learners while bringing a dynamic and thoughtful curriculum to my virtual students.
Accessing the multiple resources available on study.com's platform will allow my students a greater success rate while also enabling me to perform multiple formative assessments for understanding.
