My Students

The most important thing for me as a teacher is that my students are leaving my class in June with more tools in their toolbox than when I met them in September. I want them to be ready for what lies ahead and for them to be able to meet those challenges in a more autonomous way.

I am currently a middle school English teacher.

It is at times challenging for my students to print their work at home because many do not have the necessary technology at home. I am therefore requesting a class set of laptops. The majority of the students in my school are struggling financially. Often times, the students come into school without the necessary supplies. Many of our students qualify for the state's free lunch program. Several of my students are English language learners and are new to this country. My school recently found out that we are now considered Title 1 due to the financial status of our student population homes.

My Project

Having 15 Chromebook laptops in my classroom will enable me to share any additional teaching tools electronically. I am also requesting a security/charging cart.Computers aid my students in their understanding and comprehension. Chromebooks allow students to engage with other peers both near and far, within the classroom and with classrooms on the other side of the world. The computers will enable me to cut down on making copies. This would also show my students that going green doesn't have to be difficult. Bringing Chromebooks into the classroom, schools can dramatically reduce paper needs. I will be able to manage tests, textbooks requirements, homework assignments, projects, and student reporting online. Since the average school goes through 74 trees worth of paper per year, the wave of school districts investing in 1:1 Chromebook roll outs will have a considerable impact on the environment. In turn, this will lead to a reduction in the need for printer ink, hard-copy books, and teaching materials as well.

My students inspire me to be the best teacher I can be.

They overcome hardships each day, yet still have the drive to succeed. They want to learn and they deserve the best education possible. Without a proper education, a successful future will be nearly impossible. However, getting the right foundation and education can be the start of a successful future that will open doors they never thought possible.
