My Students

My students are a group of wonderful first graders who are in a Mandarin Dual Language program. Every day they spend half the day in an English speaking classroom with me, and the other half day with their Mandarin teacher.

My first graders work very hard every day to learn all subjects in both English and Mandarin in order to be proficient in both languages.

My school is a Title I school, but students, families, teachers, and staff all work together to facilitate a better future for our students.

My Project

As a primary grade level teacher, my job not only is to help students be academically successful but to provide them important hands-on learning experience at an early age. My classroom is a place where all students collaborate with and learn from each other. One of the things they enjoy doing during our STEM science lessons are floor puzzles that make them ready and focused for the informative scientific reading.

These floor puzzles provide opportunities for learning scientific vocabulary, generating meaningful languages and building investigation skills through social interaction.

During the time they spend working on puzzles, students learn the value of sharing with each other, good manners, and using words to solve problems. It is not only important for students to be academically sound, it's also significant for them to be scientific ready. Thank you for your support to my students.
