This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am very fortunate to teach a wonderful group of second graders. Most of them are second language learners that come from low-income homes. One of their favorite things to do is to work in different centers to solve puzzles.
Unfortunately, I only have 2 floor puzzles that are old and torn from so many years of use. With only 2 puzzles it makes it impossible for all my students to work with them. They are always eager to solve the puzzles, but some of them don't get to use them at all. With so many video and computer games at home, students don't get a chance to practice good old fashioned puzzles.
I would like to have 12 new puzzles to place in different centers around the room. The puzzles are related to Science, Social Studies, and Math. The students will not only be having fun but learn at the same time. Having puzzles such as these, promotes a fun and different classroom environment.
Your kind help will ensure that my students get the opportunity to work with materials that are fun while they practice social and academic skills. It is important for students to have different types of resources in the classroom, especially the fun ones. Thank you for your help.
