I teach at Burgaw Elementary School, which is located in the rural city of Burgaw, NC in Pender County. We are a Title One school with over 73% of our students receiving free or reduced lunch. I am currently teaching the second grade. I am a "looping" teacher. This means that I will teach the first grade next year and take the same class onto the second grade the following year. I teach all of the English Language Learners (ELL). These are children who have another primary language and are learning how to read and write in English. I am seeking funding for some Math and Literacy Awareness Music CDs. I truly feel with all my heart that they will be of great help to all of my students. My students love to listen to music and sing. They will be able to hear phonetic sounds, addition and subtraction facts, and this is very fun to them. These CDs will meet the diverse needs of my students, who learn in many different ways. They will allow them to explore different music and sounds and learn while doing so! They will also enhance their love for reading as well as for math. We are only allowed $200 for all of our supplies at the beginning of the year and I have not been able to afford these beneficial CDs. I want my students to have as many learning tools as possible and I feel these CDs would be perfect. If there is anyone who can help my students by providing funding for these learning CDs, we would truly appreciate it. Thank you and have a great day.
