My Students
Have you ever looked for something and couldn't find it? Is the item that you need at the bottom of a pile? This is the case in our room. Students can't get to the materials that they need because we don't have enough storage.
The students in our room have disabilities that make everyday life hard for them.
Some of our disabilities including being physically disabled, mentally handicapped, and genetic defects. Student ages range from 14 to 21. Our classroom has between 3 and 12 students in it at all times. Students come and go throughout the day to work on academic and life skills needed to be a contributing member of our community.
My Project
Most of the resources and activities that students are asked to do are in a cupboard and not readily available to the students. Instead of learning to be independent functioning adults the students are reliant on a teacher to get them supplies. With the totes and plastic storage containers items will be easier to handle and the shelving will allow students to reach and put away their items. While learning to be self sufficient students gain confidence, good work skills, and organizational skills that will carry on when they leave school.
Your donation will allow students now and years to come the ability to function as an independent person in the classroom.
Students will learn new skills, work on following directions, and gain confidence that comes with mastering activities while being independent.
