Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My sweet students come from diverse backgrounds and bring a large array of experiences to our room. One thing they all have in common is using their imaginations and creating a happy world within our walls.
Daily, my students overcome a variety of basic challenges - getting breakfast, making it to school, and having homework completed.
Our school is a Title I urban school with the most diverse population in our district, serving free or reduced-price lunch to over 80% of our students. School becomes a safe haven for these scholars where expectations are the same every day, and their basic needs are met. While they come to school to learn, they thrive when they are given the opportunity to utilize a variety of resources to make learning real and fun. This is what keeps them coming back and keeps them hooked into learning the rigorous academic standards.
My Project
The tabletop magnetic boards will allow for multiple students to work on building words with the magnetic letters. The magnetic fishing set along with the magnetic fishing letters will strengthen students’ fine motor skills while applying the language arts curriculum. They will need to use critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills to engineer the Marble Run Maze game, Drill Toy Building Set, and the LEGO DUPLO set.
The puppet theatre, doctor/veterinarian kit, kitchen set plus food and accessories will help the students’ imagination, critical thinking, and social skills while working with others.
All of these materials are great because they are very durable and we can keep them for many years to come. We cannot wait to build and collaborate with one another!
