Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a small school within a comprehensive school. My students are smart, resilient and hard working students. My school is a Title I school and 100% of my students qualify for free or reduced lunch. My students enjoy coming to my class and feel comfortable because I have a created a welcoming learning environment. They feel welcome and comfortable sharing their thoughts with the class and also asking for support.

Coming back to in person learning after being on distance learning for about a year and a half was the best thing that could have happened to my students and myself.

Going back to in person teaching also helped me realize that there are many things I still need to have my classroom ready to provide my students with the best education. Having a 3D printer will allow my students to print artifacts that will allow them to apply the math that they learn in class.

My Project

My students are excited about learning math. One of the things that excites them more about learning the math is when they get to apply what they have learned and work on projects. Having a 3D printer will allow my students to be able to create different artifacts that they can use for different math projects that we do in class. Having the 3D printer will allow students to also see how math can be used when creating artifacts and this will help them better understand the math and also how it applies to real life.

This 3D printer will be a great addition to my class and will allow my students to apply the math to create artifacts.

My students don't have access to this technology at home, providing them access to this type of technology at school will provide them the opportunity to explore what they can do with a STEM career.
