My Students
Many important math skills are introduced in kindergarten. Shouldn’t learning math be fun? With four new math games, I will be able to teach math lessons that are both fun and educational.
I teach a diverse group of kindergarten students.
Several of my students are ELL (English Language Learners) and are learning to speak English for the first time in my classroom. Many of my students were not able to afford preschool, and so they are attending school for the first time when they walk into my classroom. Although they may not have been exposed to many math concepts before they came to kindergarten, I want them to leave my classroom with a solid foundation in math.
My Project
Math can be more than memorizing facts and filling out worksheets. With these new math games and activities, my students will be able to learn math in a hands-on and engaging way.
Students will be able to use the “How Much Does It Weigh” math center to learn how to weigh objects using a balance. With the “How Long Is It?” math center, my students will get valuable practice comparing and measuring the length of different objects.
One of the most important things students learn about in kindergarten is numbers and counting. If students don’t know their numbers then it’s impossible to move on to teaching them addition and subtraction! With the “Count and Link” activity cards and “Strawberries in a Basket Counting Game” my students will learn their numbers in no time!
Your generous donation will provide my students with exciting new math games and activities.
These materials will not only help my students learn important kindergarten math skills, but also help them to build a solid foundation so that they’ll be successful with math in the older grades. Please help my kindergarteners become little mathematicians!
