Help me give my students math journals and write and wipe boards to help them understand and practice their math skills at home and to show me their thinking through video chats.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Every year I get between 22 students in my classroom. They are all English Language Learners. Some speak Spanish as a second language because they have an indigenous background. All of the parents are working class and few of them have an education beyond high school. About 1/4th of the parents did not make it passed middle school and many are not fluent English speakers. About half of my students have did not attend pre-school and 3/4ths are below grade level when they come into my classroom.
Education is the set of tools that my students need to change their world and to continue on the road to success.
Covid has left my students without the support they need to be able to understand and do math. I am not there to walk them through things that they don't understand. Many of their parents are unable to help them. In small apartments with younger siblings, focus is more difficult to maintain. Through video chats I have trouble figuring out how they are thinking about math. Struggling students tend to stay quiet or not attend class due to frustration.
My Project
I would like to be able to provide some basic items in order for my students to show me how they are thinking about math. Having write and wipe tools and math journals allows everyone to show me their thinking at the same time and to follow along while I model the lesson. Having the same tools also allows parents who might not know how to solve the problems themselves to follow simple steps in problem solving. The math journals also come with answer keys for students to do some work independently and check their answers. While having them in the classroom is ideal, these tools will help make learning at home feasible.
