This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Learning math is not a skill that comes easy for children, especially for my students, who have less exposure to math concepts and ideas outside of the classroom. Learning math takes more than just a computer and a textbook. My students have struggles grasping concepts like multiplication, division, and learning to tell the time. This project will allow me to incorporate a multi-sensory approach to learning math. This would include a variety of manipulatives, flashcards, and functional games.
My students have shown me their need for tangible objects when learning math concepts.
Through this project, I hope to be able to reach the students who are starting to truly dislike math and show them how beneficial learning and knowing math can be. My students have so much hope for their future and learning math is a necessity in their ability to achieve those goals. This project is going to provide them with all the essential mathematical tools to push their learning to the next level. The aftermath of COVID learning has truly impacted my students and I hope I will be able to relight the fire towards learning math with this project.
