Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are the best 2nd graders ever! I have 9 girls and 10 boys in my class. I have been at this school 22 years and I absolutely love the community in which I work. They have Zoomed every day since the beginning of the school year. My students are eager to learn and actively participate during class.

Distance learning is difficult for some of them, but that doesn't stop them from showing up on a daily basis.

My students go above and beyond the call of duty. They read, annotate, dance, write without complaining about being tired. When a student doesn't know an answer to a question, can't figure out a math problem, or is having difficulty of any kind, someone will raise their hand and say, "I can help him/her" or say, "It's ok, I can help you".

My students are kind, friendly, smart, and best of all, they persevere. See my students are phenomenal!

My Project

Reading comprehension is a key standard in 2nd grade. While most of my students can read fluently, they need to improve in reading comprehension. This is my first year teaching 2nd grade and I have very few resources that will help us reach this goal. TPT has an abundance of resources that will help my students understand the meaning of written text.

My goal for this year is to help my students develop the knowledge and skills to become proficient and independent readers.

I also want my students to become great mathematicians, and TPT can help us achieve our goals!
