This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am so fortunate to read with the youngest learners in our Title 1 urban school. They are all so different, but have the same desire to learn and be a part of our school community. These differences in homes, languages, and cultures are what makes our diverse community so special.
All of my students want to learn and succeed, they just need to have the tools to do so.
They deserve to have the dream classroom that meets their needs and supports them as they overcome the many challenges that face them.
My Project
Our kindergarten students come from different homes and cultures. Unfortunately not all of them have the experience of listening to a bedtime story and learning how valuable reading and special books are.
I want to provide them the opportunity to fall with love with reading using traditional tales such as The Three Little Pigs and Little Red Riding Hood.
I have asked for big books so we can read and interact with the book as a class. To extend the story I have requested the smaller versions of the books accompanied with a CD. This will allow students to hear their favorites again and again. Students will have the opportunity to develop their language skills as they play with puppets and reenact the story with them.
