My Students
I have some of the hardest working fourth graders. They live in a very rough neighborhood on the east side of Indianapolis, but they do not let that get in the way of their education. My students have a desire to learn and do not let the distractions of their home lives get in the way of that.
Our school strives to push students to their full potential with a special focus on reading and math.
We are a Title I school with limited resources; yet, our students strive to be the absolute best. Last school year, we far exceeded most schools in the district. It was the best year our school has ever had! This was achieved through hard work from both teachers and students.
My Project
Imagine showing up to your job without all the resources you needed to be successful. Attending a Title I School in a rough area of Indiana, this is the reality my students face every day. Despite their technological limitations, my students find a way to rise above these barriers and succeed.
This iPad Pro will help assist in small group settings.
Students will be able to access a variety of different books that directly relate to their reading level. I can assign work and quizzes based on what students are learning and access a variety of activities that are made to engage students at their current grade level. This will help me better differentiate instruction in my classroom and allow my students to gain instruction at the grade level they are functioning at. My school also has limits on the amount of copies that can be made, so having this iPad will allow me to give students the ability to complete more activities by being paperless.
Unfortunately, our school has very little technology for students to use. With daily use of an iPad, not only will my students be able to increase their reading skills, but they will also prepare themselves for ISTEP, IREAD, and our weekly math assessments that are all administered on computers.
