Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students love coming to school and are always eager to learn. The students in my school come from diverse backgrounds and have a variety of needs. They are enthusiastic, caring, and full of life. My students thoroughly enjoy reading, especially series books!
I work in a Title I school in Brooklyn, New York, which means my students come from low-income homes.
All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch. Even though they face challenges, they are always striving to do their best.
My Project
In third grade, our current curriculum includes two units in reading and writing based on non-fiction literature. This includes non-fiction books such as biographies and research. It is often challenging to access and find non-fiction books that can meet the needs of the varying level of readers in my class.
With these non-fiction books, my whole class will be able to access the grade-level content through texts that are appropriate for their reading level.
They will use the books to participate in animal research clubs and learn about the lives of those who have influences on the world around us.
