My Students
This is my 20th year in the classroom, teaching is still my calling. However, the last 3 years have had many new challenges for teachers, administrators, parents and most importantly our students. We must rise above the challenge and meet their needs.
I have a very diverse group of learners, several of my students have special needs, while others are performing at and above grade level.
I need materials that help me meet the needs of all students; therefore, I am needing many hands-on activities and resources for my little Wolves. I am striving to make school a safe and fun learning environment.
My Project
Kindergarten students have never been in school during what we as adults know as a "normal" school year. As a teacher it is my job to provide a place where they will feel safe enough to learn.
In order to learn a child must first feel safe.
One of the many ways I provide a safe and loving environment for my students is through flexible seating. This has been difficult during Covid-19. This project will provide more options for seating in my classroom and give the students and I more flexibility in grouping. The wobble chairs and ball seats will add two more tables of fun and fresh seating to complete our flexible seating arrangement. The students will now be able to rotate throughout the week with their family group to 5 types of seating.
The three different types of picture magnets, the magnetic chips and the simple word locks will be a wonderful addition to our reading centers , where students practice their newly learned phonics skills. The magnetic tens frames and number puzzles are going to be a wonderful addition to our math centers which are an all time favorite in our classroom.
I am a firm believer in if students feel safe and loved that they will learn and will become life long learners.
