My Project
My kindergartners are curious, caring, and just beginning to understand the importance of kindness. They come from a variety of backgrounds and bring unique stories to our classroom. Many of them are learning for the first time how to share space, solve problems peacefully, and show empathy to others. For some, school is their safe haven, a place where they learn not only to read and count, but to care deeply for others.
I’m requesting a set of stuffed animals to help students explore compassion in a hands-on, age-appropriate way.
These stuffed animals will be more than toys. They will be emotional learning tools used to foster empathy, kindness, and compassion.
Through activities like storytelling, journaling, and role-play, students will learn to see the world through the eyes of their stuffed friend. They’ll practice asking, “How does my animal feel?” and “What could make them feel better?” In turn, they will apply those skills to their classmates and real-life situations.
Students will explore how to recognize emotions in others and take kind, thoughtful action like offering help or comfort. They’ll reflect on what it means to reduce suffering and show care, both in play and during real interactions.
We will track growth through writing/drawing and conversations. Students will draw or talk about times they helped their animal or a classmate feel better. When students start showing concern for each other, offering help without prompting, or naming emotions with accuracy, we’ll know the lessons are working.
With your help, these simple stuffed animals will become powerful tools for emotional learning and growth. Stuffed animals might seem like simple tools, but in the hands of kindergartners, they become powerful vehicles for empathy, storytelling, and emotional growth. Thank you for helping our students grow into more compassionate people, one cuddle at a time.
