Learning Is Trivial

My students need an Elementary Quizmo Game Series for Grades K-4 and 6 Brain Quest game sets.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Moye's classroom raised $232

This project is fully funded

I teach first grade at an inner city elementary school in Georgia. The majority of my students come from low-income families. I teach all subjects to 17 first grade children who are eager to learn. They come to school each day and strive to do their best.

Despite the fact that the majority of my students face many obstacles of poverty, they are optimistic and eager about learning. There is so much pressure these days being put on teachers as well as student to make academic strides on state mandated assessments. As important as it is to succeed academically, I feel it is also very important to have fun at school as well. I try to incorporate as many ways as possible to make learning fun for my students. During the first week of school, students in my classroom who had a productive day at school were allowed to spin the colorful Wheel Of Wow in my classroom to receive a prize. This made for a wonderful classroom management system. I found that my students would do almost anything for a chance to spin the wheel at the end of the day. They knew that after the first week of school our Wheel of Wow would be put to use in other ways throughout the school year, not just for earning a prize. I intend to use the wheel as a giant spinner when we play trivia in teams.

I have chosen a variety of trivia games that can help my students learn and review a variety of skill and concepts while having fun. These trivia games can be played in teams or one on one with a classmate. The trivia questions will have students answering questions on a variety of topics, science, reading, math, language arts, social studies and general knowledge questions.

Your donation will enable the students in my class to enjoy learning in a fun, friendly, and competitive manner. Funding for this project will make it possible for my students to enjoy playing games at the same time they are learning. A quote from Benjamin Franklin that is often used in education is "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." In learning, it is often what students do that helps them remember and learn the best. Thank you for considering a donation to fund my project.
