Learning Is Not A Drag With Mr. Murray's Grand Prix

Help me give my students a chance to celebrate their hard work everyday. The Electronic Scoreboard will help me keep score in large classrooms. The little prizes will enable me to reward them simply and more often.

My Project

I love when my students have fun learning. Without that element of fun as a class they suffer separately as individuals. My Grand Prix is designed to keep the focus on academic fun as a whole while promoting individual improvement in self-management, responsible decision making, and social-awareness.

I've learned very quickly that smaller rewards, given more frequently, promote daily participation in my class.

Likewise, larger rewards, given after longer periods, promote behavioral endurance. My Grand Prix is designed to track and measure both short-term and long-term behavioral progress. The requested tools and prizes will enable me to keep up with their high performance level and reward them consistently.

The Grand Prix project is visually designed more like a drag race with all five of my periods competing for a monthly prize. Also, the classes themselves compete internally as sides-of-the-room for daily and weekly prizes (candy, stickers, bracelets, collectable items, School currency). The electronic scoreboard will prove useful in tracking the daily points during the weekly contest. The grand total of the points during a single month will dictate first place on the race tracks (which will be made out of the magnet strips).
