My students are fascinated with magnets and the uses that they have, but because of our small supply, a lot of our learning comes from me showing them through a video or a classroom demonstration. My students come from a rural, high-need community. Our public, charter school opened in 2006 to help more students in the area meet standards set by the state.
I would like to have more students become proficient in science in order to open up careers and opportunities to them. This comes from a love of science. We need materials so that the students can have hands-on experience with magnets.
We need resources that will allow students to feel the attraction and repelling force of magnets. The students need opportunities to see the magnetic force and how a magnet's force is strongest at the poles. Overall, I would love for my students to have the opportunity just to see how fun magnets can be.
By helping my class receive these materials you will be helping the next generation become excited about science and imagine the possibilities that they could create. You will be inspiring future scientists, doctors and inventors to use their knowledge to make our world a better place.
